I love polymer clay for its versatility. It is a medium which allows you to imitate any other material (faux stones, faux leather, faux wood and the list goes on) and also to create any kind of jewelry: organic, modern, tribal, etc. For these rings, I found my inspiration in modern rings (and I would add modern statement rings).
I found out that it was more difficult to create under pressure. But it’s a good lesson nevertheless. I started several projects and I wasn’t really happy with the result. Finally I decided to go with the statement rings for today.
Material s and tools used: white Fimo Professional Polymer Clay, pasta machine, cutter, round ball tool, liquid Fimo, my wedding ring, a screw and acrylics.
I think this is a less difficult project, but it is yet an idea that offers endless possibilities.
I have used my wedding ring to cut the interior of the ring. Then I shaped it a little with the cutter and also with a round ball tool. Then I cut around it to get an interesting irregular form. Then I cut small blocks of polymer clay and arranged them in a dome form. I used a screw to imprint a texture on the upper part of the ring. I have used the screw to make a texture on the base of the ring as well. After baking it according to the manufacturer’s instructions, I let it cool and then I have painted it with golden acrylic paint.
Mission accomplished!
