I must warn you: I am very fond of polymer clay flowers, so I will make a lot of them during this 31-day journey.
For today, I have chosen a pansy. And I decided to use it to embellish a hair barrette.
Materials and tools used: white Fimo Professional Polymer clay, pastel colors, pasta machine, liquid Fimo, round cutter, black alcohol ink, a wooden stick (to make the veins on the petals and to draw the center lines on the petals) a stamp (to create a texture on the base), a brush (to create a texture on the back of the base) and Fimo varnish.
I have prepared the polymer clay and rolled it through the pasta machine. I have cut 6 round shapes (5 for the petals and one to use underneath the petals).
I have shaped the petals between the thumb and the index and I have made a texture using a wooden stick.
I have put one petal on each side of the 6th round shape.
I have put 2 petals underneath the first 2 (in the back) and one petal over the first 2 petals (in front). I have used liquid Fimo to make sure they will stick together. I also pressed them together using the ball tool.
Then I have started painting it with pastel colors.
I have used black alcohol ink and a wooden stick to trace the black lines of the pansy petals.
I have applied a polymer clay rectangle on the barrette and another one on the other side (capturing the barrette between the two sheets of polymer clay). I have used Liquid Fimo to glue the pansy flower to the base. I have used the ball tool to fix it well to the base.
I have finished painting the flower.
Then I have imprinted a texture on the base (using a stamp). I have textured the back of the base using a brush.
That’s it for today! Thanking you for accompanying me in my journey!
Nice work!
Thank you very much!
I read the post only today. It very beautiful now I know how those barettes are made. You did a great job.
