I could say I was saved by a flower. I have been working almost all day today, but the result was not what I was expecting. And I had no plan B. But then I said to myself, I could try to choose a flower that I like and try my hand at it. I am more inspired when it comes to making polymer clay flowers. That’s how I came with the idea of the lotus flower.
Materials and tools used: white Fimo Professional Polymer Clay, a pasta machine, pastel colors, round cutter, petal cutter and liquid Fimo.
I have prepared the polymer clay and rolled it through the pasta machine. I have cut a round shape.
Then I have started cutting the petals.
After the first raw of petals, I have cut the same shape, but reduced its size a little bit (to have smaller petals for the second raw).
I have made a flower bud for the center of the flower.
I have painted the round base and the petals with a mixture of blue and violet pastels.
Using Liquid Fimo I have arranged the first raw and then the second raw.
I have cut a rectangle of polymer clay and then colored it with yellow and blue and violet pastels.
I have cut thin stamens and I have painted them all around.
I have put it in the oven in a silicone mold (to shape the flower).
I haven’t decided yet what to do with it. I could make a statement brooch, put it on a box or just keep as it as decoration.
It’s beautiful!
Thank you very much, Kelly!
Hats off to you on your creative journey. I am an artist, encrusted bead worker, and author so I appreciate what you are doing and how you will grow in this process of a daily project that pushes your boundaries. You may enjoy an article I wrote about the Lotus flower. What a wonderful, magical plant it is.

Dear Lynda, I loved your article about the lotus flower. Thank you for the recommendation. I was very impressed by your artistic talents: I loved the beaded statement necklace, the pottery and I was amazed to see that you are painting as well. I admire you very much for your capacity to create using so many media. I am very happy to meet you!
Amazing work! Love it!
Thank you, Lucy! I am very glad you liked it!
Your creativity is awesome… One of these every day!
Congratulations and have a great day!
Thank you very much! In fact one day turned into two or even three, but I had to accept the fact that inspiration is not something you can control. The more I tried to control the process, the less satisfied I was with the results. And I decided to go for quality, not quantity. Yet, the most interesting part in this journey, is that I always have in mind the fact that I have taken upon me to do this and in the same time I am letting go of expectations and letting creativity come to me at the right moment. I wanted to add that I loved your realistic paintings and that I was amazed by the details and the feelings you managed to convey through your characters. Most of all I loved the joy from this girl’s eyes. http://musamolona.com/2015/04/20/la-nina-que-te-desea-que-pases-un-buen-dia-the-girl-who-wishes-you-all-the-best-for-today/ Wonderful work!
Thank you very much, really!
Have a wonderful day.
A wonderful day to you too! Best wishes! Mihaela
