Polymer Clay Symposium 2020 -Only 6 days left until the opening of this exciting clay marathon!

Hello dear friends,

How are you? We’re in February already and I hope you’re advancing steadily towards your goals.

I’m certainly happy with the way this year unfolds for me. I love the creative energy, the inspiration and the way people are interacting in the Polymer Clay Adventure as well as in the PCA Facebook Group. That’s amazing!

Furthermore, there’s more great news for polymer clay lovers as the Polymer Clay Symposium 2020 is getting near. Only 6 days left and the counter is counting the time relentlessly.

The Polymer Clay Symposium 2020 is like a Polymer Clay marathon that’s going to take place between the 7th and the 15th of February. 20 artists, 20 sessions, 9200 attendees already. Are you in? Sign up for FREE here!

You have the possibility to watch each workshop for free during a 24 hour window. I hope that you’ll love these sessions so much that you’ll buy the entire bundle for the early bird price of $77. Anyway you have the possibility to watch the workshops for free during the 24 hour window and later decide.

I’m a teacher in the Polymer Clay Symposium 2020 (and an affiliate) and here are some of the teachers that will share their clay knowledge with you during this polymer clay marathon: Lisa Pavelka, Noemi Smith, Christi Friesen, Angela Thompson, Barbara Felts , Tony Street, Elisabetta Visentini, Beatriz Cominatto, Karen Baker, Kellie Beckett, Stefan Niehues – Ellermann, Orieta Dimadi, Sherrie Neilson, Qingyu Li, Apryl Jensen, Edmalyn Meharry, Olimpia Corvino, Donna Menke, Andreea Corpodean, Brandi Mills, Amy Hucks. Go to the Polymer Clay Symposium Page to have an idea of the projects taught by the teachers I mentioned and register for FREE.

Going back to the resolutions I set for this year I can tell you that I’m happy with the progress in my sewing. Let’s say that my sewing skills are getting better and better. I managed to sew two couch cushions and to make a protection for the smaller unit of the couch. I’m pretty satisfied with my progress. Keeping in mind that I have the sewing machine for more than 5 years, but never used it because it all seemed too complicated, I’m happy that I can count on it to make simple things to decorate around the house. This was one of my resolutions for this year: to be able to use the sewing machine to make things for myself (including clothes). Let’s say that my start is rather promising.

I’m working on the larger couch at the moment and I’m going to finish everything by using a furniture stapler. I already bought a small manual stapler online and I think it will do the job.

And my supervisor, keeping an eye on my work:) He’s ready to give me a tough look when I get distracted and I stray away from work….

And these are the no zipper couch cushions. Thank you Pinterest for the inspiration:) The second one turned out better than my first idea and I’ll make two more cushions in this style.

I hope you’re heading right to the Polymer Clay Symposium Page and Signing up for free for this exciting clay marathon!

Happy claying!

  1. All the very best for the symposium, Mihaela; it sounds wonderful.
I can relate so well to your sewing experience. Up until the last few years I sewed most of the soft furnishings for my home. Curtains, couch covers, cushion covers, indeed anything that took my fancy would find me at the sewing machine. Like you, I also felt very pleased with the results.
Yours are looking amazing. I love the colours and the contrasts you’ve made. They are so ‘cheery’… 🙂
And I have to mention your adorable cat. What a delightful image. He/she looks right at home.. 🙂

    1. Thank you very much, my dear Carolyn, for your beautiful words and for the encouragement for the clay symposium. It really is a great clay event and I’m very happy to be part of it.
I always thought it must be amazing to be able to make your curtains, cushion covers and all those beautiful details around the house, but never could see myself doing it. But now I understanding how relaxing and empowering it is to be able to make so many things by yourself. And I understand your delight in making your house look the way you wanted it to look, This is very creative and empowering.
Me, I’m taking baby steps, but I’m happy with my progress. It’s like opening a new door into new possibilities.
Thank you for appreciating the way the couch design and cushion covers are starting to look like.
We also feel that Garfield is at home and that he has an important place in our house and hearts.
Have a beautiful and blessed day!😘

      1. You are so right, Mihaela, when you speak of the sewing process as being relaxing and empowering. Things I made many years ago still hold a satisfaction unlike any bought product. I am so pleased that you are experiencing this same feeling.
I have always thought your creative clay beauties so special, and love that I have some precious examples. They also hold a very special place within my heart.
And Garfield (he he) is gorgeous… 🙂
Wishing for you a beautiful week ahead. 😍

      2. I know what you mean when you talk about the satisfaction of the things you’ve made and how this does not compare with the feeling of anything that’s bought in a shop. You are right, I feel the same myself.
I want to thank you for appreciating my work and I’m very, very grateful for it.
Have an amazing and joy-filled week, my dear Carolyn!💖
        Hugs and kisses!

    1. Thank you very much, Irene! I’m very happy to be part of this clay event. It really means a lot to me.
I’m still working on how to best finish the couch, but most of all I’m happy that now I can use the sewing machine. And I intend to upcycle some of my clothes for a start.
Garfield is very sweet and taking into account that it’s the first time in my life that I have a pet, he really is a very important member of the family (for all of us).
Have a beautiful and blissful day!

  2. So many creative workshops in the new year it’s difficult to pick the ones to register for! 🙂 Amazing stitching progress, and I love the cushions – especially since they’re zipper-free! Your supervisor does look pretty unhappy that you’re ‘wasting’ time clicking pictures when you could be ‘working’… 😀

    1. Thank you, Anita, for your beautiful comment! Maybe you’ll have time to see the Clay Symposium workshops for free during the 24 hour period. The teachers are great and I’m sure the projects will be very interesting.
I have to tell you that I’m very happy that I added the sewing machine to my set of skills. I did not image how relaxing it was to sew with a sewing machine. And I really like it very much. I’m doing basic things, but it looks like you can do a lot with basic skills. With a little help from Pinterest and all the other inspiration that you can find online.
Garfield has sometimes a “scary” look, but he’s very sweet and he’s sleeping next to my head in the morning waiting for me to get up. Sometimes I need this little bit of encouragement to wake up very early in the morning:)
Have a beautiful and inspired day! 🌹

      1. You’re lucky to have a sweetie like Garfield keeping you company while you wake up, Mihaela. 🙂
My sister sews, and even when she started, I could see how many amazing items one can create with basic techniques. I hope you find much happiness creating with your new skills – I’ll be looking forward to your updates.
I’m eager to check out the Polymer Clay Symposium workshops – I definitely see a lot of great teachers – yourself included. 🙂 I’m sure the event will be a grand success!

      2. It’s true that we are very lucky to have Garfield around.
Thank you for taking a look at the Symposium presentation and for considering me also as a great teacher:) It really means a lot to me!
I hope you’ll have the time to watch some of the workshops.
Thank you again for your encouraging message. I’m happy that such clay events exist (it’s difficult for me to attend events offline) and I’m even happier to be part of such an event as a teacher.
Have an amazing and creative day!
