I’m certainly happy with the way this year unfolds for me. I love the creative energy, the inspiration and the way people are interacting in the Polymer Clay Adventure as well as in the PCA Facebook Group. That’s amazing!

Going back to the resolutions I set for this year I can tell you that I’m happy with the progress in my sewing. Let’s say that my sewing skills are getting better and better. I managed to sew two couch cushions and to make a protection for the smaller unit of the couch. I’m pretty satisfied with my progress. Keeping in mind that I have the sewing machine for more than 5 years, but never used it because it all seemed too complicated, I’m happy that I can count on it to make simple things to decorate around the house. This was one of my resolutions for this year: to be able to use the sewing machine to make things for myself (including clothes). Let’s say that my start is rather promising.
I’m working on the larger couch at the moment and I’m going to finish everything by using a furniture stapler. I already bought a small manual stapler online and I think it will do the job.
And my supervisor, keeping an eye on my work:) He’s ready to give me a tough look when I get distracted and I stray away from work….
And these are the no zipper couch cushions. Thank you Pinterest for the inspiration:) The second one turned out better than my first idea and I’ll make two more cushions in this style.

I can relate so well to your sewing experience. Up until the last few years I sewed most of the soft furnishings for my home. Curtains, couch covers, cushion covers, indeed anything that took my fancy would find me at the sewing machine. Like you, I also felt very pleased with the results.
Yours are looking amazing. I love the colours and the contrasts you’ve made. They are so ‘cheery’… 🙂
And I have to mention your adorable cat. What a delightful image. He/she looks right at home.. 🙂

I always thought it must be amazing to be able to make your curtains, cushion covers and all those beautiful details around the house, but never could see myself doing it. But now I understanding how relaxing and empowering it is to be able to make so many things by yourself. And I understand your delight in making your house look the way you wanted it to look, This is very creative and empowering.
Me, I’m taking baby steps, but I’m happy with my progress. It’s like opening a new door into new possibilities.
Thank you for appreciating the way the couch design and cushion covers are starting to look like.
We also feel that Garfield is at home and that he has an important place in our house and hearts.

You are so right, Mihaela, when you speak of the sewing process as being relaxing and empowering. Things I made many years ago still hold a satisfaction unlike any bought product. I am so pleased that you are experiencing this same feeling.

I know what you mean when you talk about the satisfaction of the things you’ve made and how this does not compare with the feeling of anything that’s bought in a shop. You are right, I feel the same myself.

I’m still working on how to best finish the couch, but most of all I’m happy that now I can use the sewing machine. And I intend to upcycle some of my clothes for a start.
Garfield is very sweet and taking into account that it’s the first time in my life that I have a pet, he really is a very important member of the family (for all of us).

Your supervisor does look pretty unhappy that you’re ‘wasting’ time clicking pictures when you could be ‘working’… 😀

I have to tell you that I’m very happy that I added the sewing machine to my set of skills. I did not image how relaxing it was to sew with a sewing machine. And I really like it very much. I’m doing basic things, but it looks like you can do a lot with basic skills. With a little help from Pinterest and all the other inspiration that you can find online.
Garfield has sometimes a “scary” look, but he’s very sweet and he’s sleeping next to my head in the morning waiting for me to get up. Sometimes I need this little bit of encouragement to wake up very early in the morning:)
